The Commission on Children’s Issues
Offers FREE Parenting Workshop 

The Commission on Children’s Issues has designed a series of free workshops to assist parents and guardians with strategies to improve skills and recognize cyber bullying. The workshop “Keeping Our Children Safe in the Community” is scheduled for Tuesday January 27, at MacGowan Elementary from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  MacGowan Elementary is located at 18255 Kinloch, Redford. SEE FLYER.

This free workshop includes a light meal of submarine sandwiches, refreshments and door prizes. Parents and guardians interested in
attending must register by Wednesday, January 21, at 313-387-2787.
Please register early, as seating is limited for this event. Childcare is available for children 5-12 years of age. When calling to register, please include if childcare will be needed, the age and number of children in need of childcare.

Pistons Kick off Assembly: Friday,  January 16, 2009
Tickets are $25.00 and orders are due by Thursday, January 29.
Make checks payable to Vandenberg PTO. Contact person Eric Draper.  The game is on March 9th Pistons vs. Orlando on March 9th, at 7:30 p.m. Join the fun and help Vandenberg Elementary.

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has developed a new website offering information to Michigan residents on how and where  to find low cost or free health care.

Student Assessment and Testing Schedule Information
Are you wondering about the next test your child will be taking.

Are your child's immunizations up to date? 
Parents and guardians of a child enrolling in a school for the first time must submit a certificate showing required immunizations have been given. Updated immunization records must also be submitted to the school office as your child receives additional doses. See the MI Department of Ed.  web site for an immunization schedule. 

Grade Level Content Expectation Parent's Guides
A Parent's Guide to Grade Level Content Expectations booklet is intended to give parents an overview of the Grade Level Content Expectations.  It is a  tool to facilitate communication between parents and teachers enabling parents to be a partner in their child's education.
