Congratulation to Thurston Eagle Marching Band
Congratulations to the members of the Thurston High School Eagle Marching Band for placing 9th in Flight III in the State this past weekend at the Michigan Competing Band Association State Championships.  The Eagle Marching Band gave their best performance of the season earning a 72.75.  Bands throughout the state qualify throughout the season for the opportunity to perform at Ford field in Detroit through contest that are held both locally and across the state.

The 2007 Michigan Competing Band Association State Championship marks the 13th consecutive year that the Eagle Marching Band has qualified as one of the top ten bands in the state in Flight III.  All of the students, parents and friends of the band have a great deal to celebrate.  The band made continual progress in their performances and scores each time they performed.

F.Y.I.   The average scores achieved by music students on the 1999 SAT increased for every year of musical study. This same trend was found in SAT scores of previous years. -Steven M. Demorest and Steven J. Morrison,

2006 - 2007 Season Congratulations to the Thurston Honors Band
Members of the Thurston High School Honors Band for their outstanding performance at the 2007 Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association State Festival.  The Honors Band earned a 1st division, superior rating, in both the prepared concert performance and in sight-reading.  The Honors Band earned the invitation to perform at the state festival by earning a 1st division rating at the District Festival held in March.  The Honors Band is one of three-hundred bands and orchestras across the state to be performing at the state festival this year.

Mr. Lucius comments, "All of the students are to be commended for achieving such an accomplishment having rehearsed in a gymnasium.  The members of the Honors Band are proof that you can succeed under adverse conditions.  I am very proud of the students and their work ethic in rehearsals. The 2007 State Festival marks the 18th consecutive year that the Thurston High School Honors Band has earned State level honors."
