Thurston Academic Institute

The concept of the Thurston Academic Institute began several years ago as Thurston High School administrators and the South Redford School Board of Education began the expansion of  Advanced Placement™ courses for Thurston students.

Students enrolled in the Thurston Academic Institute will follow an established curricular pathway in 9^th and 10^th grades. During the 11^th and 12^th grades, students can move from one curriculum pathway to another. The option to select between the pathways permits students to customize their curriculum, which creates a unique learning experience, aligned with their academic interests, and with the rigor of an Advanced Placement™ curriculum.

Thurston High School teachers assigned to teach Advanced Placement™ and Honors Level courses are highly qualified, outstanding educators who have received intensive training for teaching Honors Level and Advanced Placement™ courses.

Thurston’s Instrumental Music Program and the Thurston Video Production Program have achieved both state and national recognition.
