Student Council Sponsors Spirit Week

The Student Council is sponsoring a Spirit Week for Pierce the week of March 22 thru March 26th. The Council hopes all Pierce Students will shown their school spirit by participating. Monday is Glasses Day, Tuesday is Hat Day, Wed. is Polo Day, Thursday is Twin Day and Friday is P.J. Day.
 

Sex Education Advisory Board Calls Public Hearings

Residents of South Redford School District community and parents of children who attend South Redford Schools are invited to attend the Public Hearings scheduled on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., both meetings will be held in the Teacher Center at the District Board Office located at 26141 Schoolcraft, Redford.
 
The purpose of the Public Hearings is to obtain input from the public regarding the proposed revision to the sex education curriculum and instruction in South Redford schools. The Advisory Board is recommending the addition of a 20-minute video as an amendment to the current curriculum to be shown to middle school and high school students.  The video will be shown during the meetings. 
 
The Sex Education Advisory Board, in accordance with PA 165 and 166 of 2004, has been meeting during the past year to evaluate and revised the curriculum and instruction  provided to students in human sexuality education and HIV/AIDS education.

Third Season of Patriot Idol

On March 8th, Round 1 auditions for Patriot Idol will begin at 3:20 p.m. at PMS.  Contestants will perform a song of their choice for 2 minutes in front of a panel of judges. As in American Idol, the NJHS Faculty Council will decide who will advance to the semi-finals, March 20th.  As nervous as the students can be, it is an exciting event that over 60 individuals signed up to compete.
 
April 21st is the Final Round, where the results are decided by a combination of the judges’ scores, amount of money raised, and number of ballots. This year’s intermission show will be Pierce’s first Step Team, performing a tribute to the late Michael Jackson. So please support your students and meet us at 7 p.m. at THS Auditorium.
