Debra Higgins and Students Present
“Classroom without Walls” at the State Capitol Building

Mrs. Higgins, Fisher Elementary third grade teacher and "Classroom Without Walls" Coordinator along with four Chengo students traveled to Lansing and present “Classroom Without Walls”.  Mrs. Higgins was invited to attend and present with her students at the sixth annual AT&T/MACUL Student Technology Showcase at the State Capitol Building on Tuesday, November 14, 2006.

Sierra Beck, Brandon Ruelle, Joe Devroy, and Olivia Pevovar are the fourth graders attending the Technology Showcase at the State Capitol. The students presenting in Lansing began studying Chinese with Mrs. Higgins last year and are exemplary students in the program.

The Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) extends an invitation to K-12 schools throughout Michigan to participate in the event.  Student groups set up computers and other peripherals to show Michigan state legislators how they have used technology to learn the Chinese and communicate via the Internet with the Nanao School students in China.

Providing the opportunity for our students to present their learning experience at the MACUL Showcase is fantastic. The presentation of the “A Classroom Without Walls” Program will demonstrate how Fisher Elementary students are utilizing technology to enhance learning beyond the traditional classroom to become Global citizens. The opportunity to present their learning experience to legislators and the public will strengthen the students’ learning process.

Student Presentations
