Nanao School is a private school in Guangzhou, China. The students and teachers made a long journey to the United States leaving China about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and arriving at Fisher Elementary at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
On the bus from Metro Airport one young girl expressed how beautiful the trees are, so colorful. The time difference in Guangzhou is 12 hours, the climate is comparable to the Florida Keys. They have not seen trees turn color or experience snow. They are not familiar with our Halloween custom of trick or treating, but will experience Halloween  their host families and friends. The trip itinerary is packed with special events, meeting dignitaries and visiting special places however their main purpose is to learn and practice speaking English.

Making the switch between warm weather conditions and the 12 hour time period are two differences that students and teachers will make adjustments to during their two week stay. Students also noticed the difference in our housing. While most of the students live in tall apartment complexes they have not seen single family homes on such a large scale. The students are 10 years of age and have traveled along way from home they keep in contact with their families with the use of the Internet.

Mr. Nemo and Mr. Zheng                                         Mr. Galdes                       Hat with FrieNdship Logo

Mr. Nemo presented Dr. Weber with a baseball cap with a very special logo. The logo was designed from the Nanao School logo and has the word FrieNdship embroidered under with three figures within a circle. When you look at the word FrieNds in the logo you will notice the "F" and the "N" are both larger than the other letters. "F" is for Fisher Elementary School "N" is for Nanao School. The people on the logo stand for the friends form Fisher and Nanao Schools and the person in the middle stands for the parents and teacher between the countries.

Mr. Nemo and Mr. Zheng presented Dr. Weber with a special gift for his home. Above Mr. Nemo translates the meaning of the Chinese characters on the bamboo plaques. Click the links below to view video of the gift presentation.
