This baseline assessment data will be compared to data collected at similar health screenings in the 2007-2008 school year. The health screenings will be offered to incoming 6th graders at Pierce Middle School after students are presented with nutrition and physical fitness education. Comparing the data over the two-year period will help us assess the effectiveness of the health and wellness education promotion offered within the District. District Wellness Committee

South Redford Partners with Madonna University This year, Madonna University nursing students collaborated with South Redford District nurse, Terri Czewinski to design and implement a Health Fair for staff. The event was held at Thurston High School and provided a wealth o of information for staff members, including testing for cholesterol, blood pressure, and more. Attendance at the Health Fair was phenomenal, participants were delighted to hear Registered Dietitian, and nutrition leader, Zonya Foco. Zonya spoke on healthy lifestyles and presented her latest cookbook, "Lickety-Split Meals."
