Strategic Plan

Strong school districts know that if they want to succeed, they must be clear about two things: where they’ve been and where they are going.

That’s why South Redford has had a Strategic Plan in place for several years. And, to help make certain we keep improving, we frequently revisit our plan to ensure it’s current and meeting our needs.

In 2000, the plan underwent extensive revisions when parents, community members, staff, and students took part in focus groups that provided their perceptions of our District and valuable feedback for improvements. From this information, the District developed a Strategic Planning Committee, also made up of parents, community members, staff and students. The committee’s role was to identify strategic directions to guide our work. After 1-½ years of work, the Board approved the plan in 2002. The plan is a work in progress that is reviewed and updated periodically to ensure continuous improvement -- with the most recent revision occurring in August 2003.

The Strategic Plan presented here is comprised of four clear goals, which align with federal, state, and District accreditation goals. Achievement of the goals is determined by a number of measurements and action plans specific to each goal.

How will we use the plan?

We have targeted a number of environments that will implement the Strategic Plan according to their unique needs. While we all share the same vision, mission and Strategic Plan goals, each environment will create its own measures and action steps to ensure the overall goals are achieved. These environments include:
   The overall District
   Each individual school
   Each grade level
   Each classroom
   Every student

We designed the plan to ensure that, no matter where a person works or learns, most everything they work toward fulfills a Strategic Plan goal.
