Have a Happy & Safe Summer – Keep Skills
Sharp
Parents can help their children retain skills throughout the summer by
incorporating learning activities in practical real life tasks. A great way to
reinforce math and reading skills is to ask your child to help in completing
some of the simple everyday tasks. Students can practice math skills by cutting
coupons and estimating the cost of the grocery bill. Have your children
assist you in preparing one of their favorite recipes or bake cookies. These
activities are great ways to keep math and reading skills sharp. Encourage
reading by providing a variety of reading materials for your child including
newspapers, magazines and books. Ask your child to write about an outing or
summer experience such as going to the museum or a movie.
