Board Sets Rigorous Timeline to Develop Budget

At the Regular Board of Education meeting of Monday, March 8, 2010, the South Redford Board of Education and Superintendent established a meeting timeline and target date to approve the reductions needed to balance the 2010-2011 school budget.  The purpose of the meetings will be to gather input about the proposed cuts in services, staff and programs from District stakeholders through open discussions and the Budget Reduction Survey. Cuts are inevitable in order for the District to balance the budget. The meetings have been established to provide stakeholders the opportuntiy to voice their conerns and suggestions before the final budget meeting.

The projected shortfall "worst case scenario" is $2.8 million dollars. The Board and Superintendent have set a target date of Monday, April 12, to have the final budget ready for the Board to adopt a resolution. South Redford Board of Education and administrative leadership team are working together to reach the goal.  Additional meetings will be held allowing parents and community stakeholders the opportunity to provide their input on proposed cuts.

All input from District stakeholders is needed prior to the April 12, Board meeting.
